Why Simple Church? Here are 10 Reasons…

Q. Why Simple Church?

A. The state of church attendance in our country as a whole is not positive.  While some positive signs of increased interest in church attendance have emerged in the younger population since COVID, the overall trajectory does not look good.  Why would simple church be any different?

Here are a few reasons we think simple church (and similar communities) can help connect a disinterested world to Jesus and his family in the days to come:

1. Stronger Relationships – Smaller gatherings foster deeper, more authentic connections compared to larger, more anonymous settings.

2. Accessible and Flexible – Simple churches often meet in homes or informal spaces, making them less intimidating, easier to join.  Also, they can adjust when and where they gather week to week to accommodate the needs of the group.

3. Low-Pressure Environment – People can participate and grow at the pace God has for them.

4. Greater Participation – Everyone has an opportunity to share, pray, ask questions, or contribute—to do the “one anothers” we see in the New Testament.

5. Discipleship Happens Naturally — Spiritual growth often comes through everyday life together—meals, conversations, and shared experiences—not just formal teaching.

6. Cost-Effective – With no expensive buildings or overhead, resources can go directly toward helping people in need.

7. Community Support – Members often rally around one another in practical ways—meals, childcare, financial help, encouragement—when life gets hard.

8. Easier to Multiply – Because they are simple and reproducible, new groups can form quickly, extending community and care to more people.

9. Safe Space for Questions – People can bring doubts, struggles, and honest questions without fear of judgment.

10. Focus on Jesus – Simple church often emphasizes following Jesus in daily life rather than maintaining complex structures–and this life, many of us are discovering, has more to do with what He wants to do in us, as opposed to all the things we are going to do for Him.
