Last month, we finished our APEST trainings.  I am grateful for all the work that you all put into presenting on the functions of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher.   If you are like me, then you realize to say we “finished the training” is misleading (to say the least!), as there seems to be a growing sense that we are just getting started with understanding how these functions work together to…

Ephesians 4 (ESV): ¹² …equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, ¹⁴ so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Our next “Simple Church Training” will be Wednesday, February 13.  (We always meet the second Wednesday of each month, 6-8pm, 3060 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY).  I would like to ask each of you who has been a part of this discussion as well as anyone new to it, to come together again so we may address the following:  How are we (Apostles, Prophets, Shepherds, Evangelists, Teachers) going to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry” in a simple church network?

I look forward to hearing briefly from each of you about your equipping role going forward.  Note that this does not have to be a set-in-stone plan—just your best sense on how God may be leading you to equip others.  If you have any questions, or would like to join one of the group discussions, please let me know.
