A Good Video Explaining Simple Church

There are a lot videos floating around that aid in explaining simple church and house church ideas.  We’ve gathered several here on this website. This particular video pulls from a few of my favorites.  I also like the presenters thought about how simple churches can multiply… be in two simple churches at the same time! I’m interested in your thoughts on this idea. In some ways I think that the first “community” someone would be involved in could be something like a “Life Transformation Group” or a smaller disciple-making relationship of two or three. Nonetheless, I think he does a good job of explaining visually the hope of discipleship and church multiplication.  What are you thoughts?

Ever felt this way about church?

I saw this image the other day and chuckled to myself because of frequent conversations I have with people who express similar thoughts about church. “I survived another church service that should have been a podcast,” or “I survived another sermon that should have been me reading the Bible for myself”  is essentially the sentiment. When we make “church” primarily about the one-way delivery of content (messages, music, etc.), many people can leave the experience scratching their heads wondering why they didn’t just watch church on TV or download the podcast.  It’s as if they  look at our Sunday classes and think, “Hey, I’ll take this class online” (that is if they don’t just drop the class altogether). Starting this month, I will highlight a message that I feel is important for believers to consider, especially those of us seeking to walk with Jesus outside the traditional, organizational structures. Simple Church At The Soup Kitchen

I had the wonderful privileged of meeting Andrew Baker in Frankfort, KY this week at the Access Soup Kitchen and Men’s Shelter. Andrew is the shelter’s director and it was awesome to see someone with such a passion for serving the community he grew up in. God is at work in at this shelter and He is using Andrew’s leadership and big heart to impact lives in significant ways. Andrew, who is also a Boy Scout leader, has enlisted the help of many local scouts to help work on the facility.  They even constructed the gazebo pictured below. A Round Table Discussion – Aug 29

July 15 Leadership Gathering – from Toby Jenkins

On the third Wednesday of every month we get together for a hands-on leadership training “experience.”  This month, several of the leaders and I will host a discussion on the the financial support for Simple Church Alliance instead.  We will return to the usual training next month, but on July 15 we will pause for this important discussion.
