If you are new to one of the simple churches in our area then it’s possible that you may not understand the role the people involved with First Alliance Church have played in helping us begin down the simple church path. Not only have they made it possible for me to devote all of my energies to sharing the simple church vision with people in this region, but they have done something that I think is truly commendable: Given permission. By putting their blessing on the Simple Church Alliance, every member of their traditionally structured church as been encouraged to explore simple church. In doing so they helped us all to embrace simple church as a response to God’s work in our world instead of a reaction to more traditional or institutional structures. The leadership’s open-handed Kingdom mindset is truly inspiring.
On Sunday, February 12th the Simple Church Alliance will officially leave FAC. On this day, we all will be formally launched into the community by FAC to multiply disciples and simple churches to the ends of the earth! During the Sunday services there will be a special commissioning of all of us (regardless if you previously called First Alliance your church home or not) in both services. However, we would like to encourage everyone to come during the second service if possible. There will be a time that we all receive prayer from the congregation. The service times are 9:00 and 10:45. First Alliance Church is located at 2201 Old Higbee Mill Road, Lexington, KY. I will be sharing a message this day and our time together will serve as our “Celebration Gathering” for the winter.
In the coming days, we will be moving our office to our new site in the First Southern National Bank building on Harrodsburg Road. I will no longer be on staff at First Alliance Church and will further devote my attention to the multiplication of disciples, leaders, and prayerfully simple churches in our region and beyond. I look forward to seeing you on February 12th as we turn another page in this unfolding adventure!
