Be A Trader!

Take a break from what you are doing and watch this short video.  Will you be a trader?  I am afraid that if we are unwilling to be traders that our simple churches will be reduced to nothing more than a different type of church meeting we attend each week (or whenever our time allows).  How can your simple church community help encourage each other to be traders?

Watch The Star of Bethlehem Online

Friends, Several years ago a friend involved in a simple church hosted a viewing of The Star of Bethlehem movie.  Since watching it, I find myself thinking about it and bringing it up in conversation most every Christmas.  I wanted to let everyone know that this movie is now available on YouTube and I’m linking below a version that can be watch in HD (You may need to adjust the settings to watch it in HD.  You can do that by clicking the gear). Perhaps you will not agree with everything suggested in this video/Bible study, but it is a fascinating theory and something that is well worth taking an hour to consider this Christmas.  The film seeks to examine, through computer models that track the stars and their movements and a close examination of Biblical texts,… Read More »Watch The Star of Bethlehem Online

Free Christmas Music

With #GivingTuesday upon us, we would like to give a gift to you! Enjoy these songs recorded live at our simple church christmas gathering a couple of years ago! You can listen to and download all the songs for FREE at the link below.  If you enjoy it, please share it as well! This was our first ever attempt at recording a “simple church” worship event live.  I think that this recording came as close as possible to capturing the simplicity of families and friends coming together to celebrate the risen Savior.  This release also includes a song recorded live at a “skate church” gathering and the album version of “Lights on My House” by Inside Joke – which was performed at the Christmas event (but blew up the speakers and destroyed the live recording) —- Join… Read More »Free Christmas Music

UPDATE: Special Opportunity Tomorrow In Lexington

Hello friends I wanted to shoot out this email to let you know about a last-minute confirmation that Curtis Sergeant will join us tomorrow night at First Southern National Bank for a special simple church training opportunity. Curtis lived as a missionary in China for over 10 years where he saw over hundreds of thousands come to Christ and thousands of simple/house churches birthed. He has served in many capacities over the years helping to encourage and train others to see disciples and churches multiplied. Curtis now lives in Alabama and will be in town for the International Conference on Missions (ICOM) being held at the Lexington Center this weekend. Curtis is also heavily involved with the Zumé project that I am serving as a state coordinator for. Zumé is going to utilize the web… Read More »UPDATE: Special Opportunity Tomorrow In Lexington

Baptisms and Such

God has been moving! The past six weeks have been some of the fullest, most rewarding, and most draining times of our lives and certainly of our ministry. Since the middle of September we have seen eight young people profess faith in Jesus as Savior and step into the waters of baptism. To put this in perspective, in the previous year we had baptized four people, all of which were amazing stories of redemption. During the past few weeks though, God has really been doing some cool stuff…..early church in the book of Acts type of stuff! Our gatherings have been lasting for hours because no one wants to leave. Teenagers who are rough and ragged are stopping people on the street to pray for them and tell them about what Jesus is doing in… Read More »Baptisms and Such

Tool: LTG Bookmark

Recently I put together a simple printout that you can use as a bookmark in Life Transformation Groups (LTGs).  On this bookmark, I have put some questions and symbols that we have used to train others in discovery Bible study as well as some questions intended to foster authentic disciple-making friendships as well as a few prayer ideas for praying for friends found in Neil Cole’s LTG resources.  This tool will be best understood if you take a second to learn more about Life Transformation Groups and how they can be a helpful way of thinking about making disciples.  Check out this post on our site and the links referenced there to learn about LTG’s how they can be a simple, reproducible way of thinking about multiplying disciples and simple churches. UPDATE… Ideally, any disciple-making friendship… Read More »Tool: LTG Bookmark
