Starting this month, I will highlight a message that I feel is important for believers to consider, especially those of us seeking to walk with Jesus outside the traditional, organizational structures. A Round Table Discussion – Aug 29

On Board (Lexington Skate Church Documentary)

Recently, several students at Asbury University visited our Skate Church family to film a documentary entitled “On Board,” for their final class project and I wanted to share it with you. Some of you know how instructive “skate church” has been to me and my family in helping us see clearly the larger vision of “simple church.”  We long to help everyone simply their church life such that they are able to bring Jesus and the experience of following Him together with others outside the building and into the places where people live, work, and play.   I thought this video gives a good picture of what simple church is about and what we have been working to help others experience in their neighborhoods, workplaces, local café’s, or wherever there “skate park” exists. Jonathan Wilson, FCA, and Skate Church

I am pleased to introduce a good friend.  Jonathan Wilson, a local Fellowship of Christian Athletes representative, also serves as a leader in simple church. This short video, put together by Providence Church in Raleigh, NC (a church that supports Jonathan’s work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes), highlights his work in the skate community here in Lexington. He also briefly discusses what simple church at the skate park looks like. Fall Network Gatherings

Usually in the fall we host a network celebration gathering for all the simple churches to come together. This fall, we are going to do it a bit different… we will have three! The Wheelers would like to welcome everyone throughout this loose knit network of simple churches to join them and friends for food fellowship and prayer on the following Sunday evenings this fall. New Day of Month For Simple Church Trainings

Simple Church Training – Now on the THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH. UPDATE:  See HERE FOR DETAILS FOR JUNE 19! Each month we gather together for an informal “training” of sorts.  We find that providing an opportunity for those seeking to lead simple churches (or just looking for the encouragement to start) is helpful in encouraging one another and helping rotationally connect various simple churches.  There are now a couple of different simple church communities that primarily are gathering on Wednesday nights so we thought we would give thursday nights a shot so that some of those folks can benefit from the training opportunities.  Starting in June, we will shift our day to the third thursday of the month.  Same start time and place – 6-8pm at 3060 Harrodsburg Road.  So the next several training… Read More »New Day of Month For Simple Church Trainings
