It started like the sunrise–warm, gentle, faithful, quiet and full of beauty. You know how God works: He strings along a message like a strand of pearls–unmistakable and full of grace and glory. I think it began with rereading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry in which John Mark Cromer encourages the reader to slow to the pace of Jesus. He poses a question, “What has happened to the personal quiet time?” He wonders if the QT was abandoned as a legalistic relic of the late 1990s. “Let’s bring it back.” He concludes. Spring Network Gathering – April 10

UPDATE: We are good Saturday… Rain or Shine!  If rain, we will be in the large “tabernacle” on there grounds with plenty of space to spread out to your comfort level.  Plus putt putt will be indoors too!   Simple Church Friends, The Saturday after Easter (April 10th) we will host a Spring Network Gathering at Adventure Serve in Wilmore, KY!  We will be outside in their amphitheater and enjoy music, prayer, and and time of encouragement.  Also, Adventure Serve was the recipient of a portable Putt-Putt golf course and since it’s Masters Tournament weekend, I thought we’d have a golf championship of our own!  Bring family and friends, your own picnic lunch, and perhaps an outdoor chair if you don’t prefer picnic tables or wooden chairs (see pics below).  We will get started at 11:30Am… Read More »Spring Network Gathering – April 10

I figured it would be encouraging to share these since no names are attached and since quite a bit of time has passed. –God expects us to gather like we do. Simple Church Conference 16 Wrap Up

I want to take a second and thank everyone who came together this last weekend for the simple church conference.  As I shared at the conference, I had experienced a lot of resistance about the entire during the whole process of planning our time together–so much so that I knew the day had to happen!  I trust that the our time will together will continue to impact our faith journeys and our simple churches that we are connected too. What In The World Are We Doing?

Sometimes in simple church, this question can be heard echoing in the back of our brain. Sometimes the question is an accusation from the enemy (that we are really doing nothing of significance with our lives or that whatever we are doing is wrong). However, sincerely spoken it can be a powerful prayer… “God…what are we doing?… What are You doing and how do You want to involve me?” This Saturday, we will sincerely ask the Lord this question. What are we to be doing? With whom? Why? How? Simple church, while simple in form, is not easy. LexPray! 24:7 This Week!

Hey Y’all… LexPray! This Easter, we are hosting a week of prayer along with others in the Body of Christ in the city of Lexington.  Several years ago simple churches in Lexington came together to host a 48 hour prayer room.  It went so well that we wanted to do it again this Easter.  In the process of putting this together, it has grown into a city-wide effort with several churches and ministries joining in!  Our friends at the new prayer room in Lexington are excited to host and we want to invite everyone in the Body of Christ to consider coming together to pray!  We are believing in faith that we can fill up every slot on the calendar, Monday through Sunday morning the week of Easter (March 21-27, 2016)! Lent: A call to prayer

By Nate Smith Lent is a time for personal reflection, repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming Easter.  A set forty days for self-examination and giving up something in order to prepare our hearts. It is a chance to come with expectation for greater things.  We, as Christians, have this crazy belief that Jesus, who walked in the flesh, actually died and rose again.  Death itself has been conquered.  This is the reason, and the only reason, we have to gather, to worship and break bread.  It is all about Jesus.
