House2House is Back

Many years ago, when I first began researching simple/house church, House2House.com provide a wealth of knowledge and encouragement.  Over the past ten years, the site went through some changes and eventually disappeared.  Now it is back and fully updated and provides a ton of great resources for anyone interested in exploring simple/organic/house church. Tony and Felicity Dale, the founders of House2House, have been a tremendous encouragement to us and we have really benefited from their leadership along with Neil Cole who is also featured in the Video Training Series they have included on their site.  Both the Dales and Neil have attended our conference…that we hope will be able to resume in 2021! A Note From Gavin

Words can’t express the gratitude my family and I have for all the support we have received this year. Our hearts are full of love for so many of you who have reached out as we have faced the challenges associated with our wonderful daughter Wylie! Personally, this been the most difficult year of my life, but also one of the most rewarding as we have seen countless miracles of healing and of generosity! 2020 VISION As we look into 2020 much is uncertain. That is true for all of us. But many things are certain. Jesus is still King. His love is immense. His plans and purposes will prevail! As I have considered 2020 and how best to focus my energies with the Simple Church Alliance, while also seeking to primarily be there to… Read More »A Note From Gavin

Life Together: Leadership Gathering Nov. 16

Simple church leaders and those interested in leading simple church communities… Rubin McClain and I want to invite you to a two-part discussion on the short book Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  Part one will cover the first two chapters of Bonhoeffer’s classic book on Christian community.  We will enjoy a light breakfast together and examine together what the Lord might say to simple/house/organic church leaders through Bonhoeffer’s experience with the Lord.   When? Where? Life Together: Part 1 – Saturday, November 16th from 9-10:30 am First Southern National Bank at 3060 Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY 40503.   While not required, it certainly would benefit all to have read these chapters prior to our time together.  You can purchase them online most anywhere and I’m sure that most libraries would also have the book.  If… Read More »Life Together: Leadership Gathering Nov. 16

No Place Left Vermont – by Justin Bagley

Evaluating Your Simple Church (Part 1)

Evaluating Your Simple Church (Part 1) By Gavin Duerson How do we evaluate our simple church community?  We may shy away from examining ourselves because we can be afraid of what we will find.  However, when handled properly, taking time to assess your simple church can help your community grow into all that God desires for it to be. Jesus encouraged personal reflection and evaluation (Luke 10) as did the early disciples (1 Cor. 11).  Many of the letters we read in the New Testament include evaluations of the church’s activity.  Because God loves us and wants us to grow closer to Him, we should not fear asking Him to lead us in a time of honest reflection and evaluation.  In the same way that failing to have our health evaluated regularly is a mistake, I believe failing to have regular spiritual… Read More »Evaluating Your Simple Church (Part 1)

Changes for Monthly Leadership Training This Summer

Friends, As many of you know, we will approach “training” differently this summer.  Rather than the usual “3rd wednesday of the month” evenings at the Bank, I am encouraging simple church leaders to utilize the Zume Training tool over the next several weeks. My prayer is that several Zume training groups may emerge and meet in homes over the course of the summer.  Therefore, there will be no training this month, in June or July at the bank.  We will resume in August at the bank.  (We will host other summer network opportunites as posted here). How Do I Participate? New? If you are new to simple church and are interested in becoming a more effective disciple-maker or in how to participate in a simple church, then please contact me.  I will be leading a Zume group and we will start soon.… Read More »Changes for Monthly Leadership Training This Summer
