“Hangout” Wednesday Night on Google

The purpose of this “hangout” is to share some face-to-face (sort of) time with others involved or interested in simple church but are geographically separated from other like-minded folks.  Participants will be asked to share briefly about your current experience with “simple church” and what next step of faith you sense God is leading you to take in your discipleship/simple church journey.  If you are married, then it would be great to see you and your spouse together in the “hangout!” When: Wednesday December 3rd Time: 8PM Where: https://plus.google.com/events/celtse5kfrch53v1vvuh9f0bcq4 Please let me know if you would like to take part and we will send you instructions on how this will work. Encouragements

Quick encouragements from the weekend: * Prayed with several kids on Friday night in Murray, KY who wanted to begin a relationship with Jesus. * Met with my friend Mike in Elizabethtown, KY on Friday.  He was hosting his first simple church gathering that evening in his home. * Had a wonderful visit with the Haynes family in Clarkson, KY. They have been training and meeting weekly with inmates at a local detention center to train and mentor a small group of guys who then were essentially starting simple churches in their “blocks.” Also listened to amazing testimony of how God is leading reconciliation efforts in their community. * Spoke during both services at Harmony Christian Church in Georgetown, KY on the topic of discipleship.  I sensed it was a timely topic for them.  Met… Read More »Encouragements

Are We “Going?” (Or Still Trying To Get People To Come To Us?)

Simple Churches… Are we going or still trying to get people to come to us? This past weekend we had a great discussion about inviting people to our house for simple church meetings. But what about us inviting people to our home? Does inviting people into our homes go against the principles we see in Luke 10? When I worked with the Fellowship of Chrsitian Athletes, the mere fact we… Read More »Are We “Going?” (Or Still Trying To Get People To Come To Us?)

My Gripes About The House Church Movement (Guest Blog)

My pastor friend has the answers for the wrong complaints. He should listen to what is really wrong with the House Church movement. From people within it. From those road-testing the new models. Kicking the tires. He should listen to me. Because I have some gripes about the House church movement. I need to vent them. And he needs to hear them. Here they are:
