What if God is not counting our sins against us? This seems like a silly question, because if you are reading this, there is a good chance you are a Christian, and you would know to say to me, “Of course He is not counting our sins against us!” However, if an adulterer was sitting in front of you, would you say, “Good news! God does not count your sins against you!” Perhaps you may not be so sure that He is not counting in such a situation? He is only not counting the sins of those who have first showed some sign of sadness for their sins, right? Only then does God stop counting, right? I have certainly thought I believed that He is not counting, but I have acted as though He is (i.e. not really believed… Read More »Is God Counting?
I’d like to thank my friend Brian for sharing this short video of Francis Chan “rethinking church.” Francis Chan left his mega church about the same time we started down the simple church road and . observing his journey from mega church to multiplying house or simple churches has been encouraging! Take a break from what you are doing and watch this short video. Will you be a trader? I am afraid that if we are unwilling to be traders that our simple churches will be reduced to nothing more than a different type of church meeting we attend each week (or whenever our time allows). How can your simple church community help encourage each other to be traders?
Friends, Several years ago a friend involved in a simple church hosted a viewing of The Star of Bethlehem movie. Since watching it, I find myself thinking about it and bringing it up in conversation most every Christmas. I wanted to let everyone know that this movie is now available on YouTube and I’m linking below a version that can be watch in HD (You may need to adjust the settings to watch it in HD. You can do that by clicking the gear). Perhaps you will not agree with everything suggested in this video/Bible study, but it is a fascinating theory and something that is well worth taking an hour to consider this Christmas. The film seeks to examine, through computer models that track the stars and their movements and a close examination of Biblical texts,… Read More »Watch The Star of Bethlehem Online
UPDATE: Join Gavin and Forrest Head, with BigLife@Home for a Google Hangout on Wednesday June 1st at 8PM to learn more about the Zumé Project and pray for our nation. Details HERE. Over the last several months people from around the country have been coming together from various denominations and even types of churches to pray for and consider the common purpose of multiplying disciples, and yes, simple churches across the nation under the banner of the Zumé Project. The Zumé Project (see video below) is an approach to fulfilling the Great Commission in North America by helping to establish disciple making groups or simple churches in every census tract (geographic block of 10,000 people) in the country.
